North Shore Cup to Stay in Beverly as Endicott Wins Fourth Straight Title

BEVERLY, Mass.-  Following the 2014-15 academic year in which Endicott claimed 77 of a possible 96 points (80.2%) in competitions against Gordon and Salem State, the Gulls won their fourth straight North Shore Cup title.  Endicott has now won every title since the North Shore Cup Competition began during the 2011-12 season.  The Fighting Scots took second place in the standings this year, finishing with 64 points out of a possible 96 (66.7%) while the Vikings of Salem State finished third, earning 47 points out of a possible 90 (52.2%).

Endicott used dominant performances in the winter and spring to pull away from the competition following a close spring and lock up the win.  In the fall, the Gulls trailed Gordon in both points and percentage points as the Fighting Scots recorded 37 of 45 points (82.2%).  Endicott was able to collect 35 of 48 points (72.9%) after  the fall teams produced a 9-6-1 record in North Shore competitions while the Vikings finished third, claiming 20 of 45 points (44.4%). 

The winter season, in which Endicott went 5-1 in contests played against their two North Shore rivals, saw the Gulls claim an amazing 16 of 18 points (88.9%) while Salem State finished second, earning 8 of 12 points (66.7%).  Gordon rounded out the group, picking up 8 of 18 points (44.4%).  The spring would be more of the same as the Gulls locked up 26 of 30 points (86.7%), producing an 8-2 record in 10 North Shore Cup contests to clinch the title for the 2014-15 year.  Both Gordon and Salem State would tie with 19 of 33 points (57.6%) earned in the spring season to close out the competition.

Since the start of the official North Shore Cup in the 2011-12 year, Endicott has finished first all four years, while Gordon has claimed second for the past two years following two third place finishes to start the completion.  Salem State, after finishing second in 2011-12 and 2012-13, has now finished third for the past two years.  The 80.2% of possible points earned for the Gulls is their third highest success rate in the four year history of the competition, trailing the 2012-13 year when Endicott claimed 85.7% (72 of 84) and 2013-14 when the Gulls locked up 80.4% (82 of 102). 

Endicott’s quest to claim the 2015-16 North Shore Cup gets underway on September 2^nd when the women’s soccer team plays host to Salem State at 7:00 p.m.
