Endicott and Eastern Nazarene Battle to 1-1 Tie

QUINCY, MASS.-  On a night that saw no offense for the first 75 minutes, Eastern Nazarene and Endicott both tallied goals in the last 15 minutes of regulation before playing to a 1-1 tie after two overtime periods.  Zach Rizzo (Redding, Conn.) was able to net his first goal of the season in the 87th minute to help Endicott escape with a tie.  

Neither squad could tack on a goal in the opening frame. Endicott sported a 10-6 advantage in first-half shots while both teams earned three corner kicks.

The Lions struck first as Edgar Arceo (Minden, Nev.) blasted a shot into the net from the top of the box in the 76th minute. The goal was Arceo's fourth of the season as he increased his team-leading points total to 14.

The Gulls knotted the score at 1-1 with 3:42 remaining in the contest. Alex Jorge (Billerica, Mass.) set up Zach Rizzo in front of the open cage with a low cross from the endline. Rizzo one-timed the ball into the back of the net for his first tally of the season.

Endicott registered 10 shots in the second frame while Eastern Nazarene fired seven.
The Gulls outshot the Lions 3-1 in the first overtime period but the hosts held a 2-1 edge in shots for the final 10 minutes of action.

Sophomore Jake Johnson (Mount Bethel, Pa.) turned aside seven shots between the pipes for Eastern Nazarene. Daniel Higgins (South Kingstown, R.I.)  made five saves on the other end of the pitch for Endicott.

Alex Jorge also recorded four shots, one of which was on frame.  Arceo paced the Lions with seven shots in the match, four of which were on target.  

Endicott has a quick turnaround as they face Springfield on the road tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.  The Lions remain at home as they also play Springfield on September 26 for a non-conference bout.
