Gulls Striving for Fourth Straight Championship
Sept. 27, 2006
The 2005-2006 season ended in familiar fashion for the Endicott men's basketball team - cutting down the nets. It marked the third straight season Endicott has won the CCC championship and advanced to the NCAA tournament.
Under first year coach Chris Millette, the Gulls performed on both sides of the court leading the league in both field goal percentage offense (.483) and field goal percentage defense (.395)
Although the Gulls lost seniors Matt George (CCC Second Team, 1000 point scorer) and Zach Ellis, Millette and staff have reloaded and are optimistic for the 2006-2007 season.
Led by senior captains Mike Sullivan and Nemanja Marinkovic (CCC First Team) the Gulls enter 2006-2007 looking to capture a fourth straight championship. After gaining experience last year, juniors Todd Burton and Gary Corbett will be counted on to make big plays this season. The Gulls also welcome the return of senior big man Sam Evans, who after starting as a sophomore, missed the entire '05-'06 campaign due to injury.
The Gulls will also count on sophomore Joey Burgos this year. After showing flashes of athletic brilliance in his first year, Coach Millette is expecting Burgos to have a break out year for the Gulls. Ross Stewart, Brandon Diaz and Joe Sheehan also return for their sophomore campaigns and will bring toughness to the hardwood.
With experienced upperclassmen and a strong recruiting class, the Gulls will focus on capturing a fourth straight conference championship in 2006-2007.
