BEVERLY, MA - Kevin Lally (Derry, NH/Pinkerton), Burt Fahy (Needham, MA/Needham), Parker Sowles (Cumberland, ME/Kents Hill), Dan Ryan (Billerica, MA/Billerica) and Eddie O'Reilly (Beverly, MA/Beverly) all netted two goals as Endicott College remained unbeaten in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with a 12-5 victory over Gordon College Tuesday night.
The Gulls jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second quarter and never looked back in improving to 10-4 overall and 6-0 in the CCC. They are in sole possession of first place in the conference while the Fighting Scots dropped their first CCC game in falling to 9-3 overall and 6-1 in the CCC.
Fahy, Josh Gilbert (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury), Ryan and Lally gave the hosts a 4-0 cushion after just 19:37 elapsed in the game. Phil Masterson (Hamilton, MA) put Gordon on the board with 2:11 to play in the first half and Matt Mercer (Salisbury, MD) cut the EC lead in half scoring less than a minute later. But O'Reilly scored his second of the night with 29 seconds left in the second quarter and Sowles closed out the first half scoring with a goal one second before the first half came to a close.
Gull senior goalie Ryan Walsh (Weymouth, MA/Weymouth) turned away 12 shots to earn the victory, while Jeremy Collins (Sea Cliff, NY) was saddled with the loss despite making 13 stops in goal. Walsh and the Endicott defense held the visitors scoreless in the first and third quarters.
Sowles also dished out three helpers while Lally and O'Reilly both handed out two assists in the win.
The Gulls wrap up their season Saturday at New England College.
