BROOKLINE, Mass. – A week from Friday, the Endicott men’s volleyball will compete as the top seed in the NECC Tournament looking to earn an automatic qualifying bid into the inaugural NCAA Division III Men’s Volleyball Championship after wrapping up their regular season schedule with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-7, 25-20) win over Newbury.
The Gulls (15-13, 12-0 NECC) will host the four-team NECC Tournament starting next Friday, April 13th in MacDonald Gymnasium. Match times for both semifinals will be announced on ECGulls.com in the coming days.
Senior captain Jeremy Siden (Natick, Mass.) recorded his 10th match this season with double digit kills as he struck 10 kills with a .419 hitting percentage to lead the Gulls. Siden was a defensive presence with 13 digs to lead all players.
Sophomore Brennan Lowe (Malibu, Calif.) and freshman Thomas Stoeckinger (Malibu, Calif.) each added six kills for an Endicott attack that sported a team .325 hitting percentage against the Nighthhawks. Stoeckinger had just one error on eight attempts and was a factor at the net with a match-high four blocks including one solo stop.
Senior Jeremy Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) dished out 17 assists in the match while sophomore Carter Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) added nine assists with a service ace in the win. Schlosser continued his strong defensive season with nine digs, second behind Siden.
Juniors Matt Devendorf (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Kevin Duggan (Glastonbury, Conn.) each did their part in the blocking game. Devendorf, along with recording four kills, had two solo and one assisted block. Duggan added one solo and one block assist.
Endicott also got strong defensive efforts out of sophomore Aaron Jessee (Okinawa, Japan) and freshman Stewart Allendorph (Delmar, N.Y.) who registered five and three digs, respectively.
