Endicott Athletes Participated In Beverly's Polar Plunge

BEVERLY, Mass.-  Over 100 Endicott student-athletes dove into the near-freezing waters of the Atlantic Ocean and participated in the Polar Plunge at Lynch Park in Beverly, Mass. on February 3rd, 2013.  In a effort to fundraise and kickoff the Superbowl, the athletes raised over $600 which has been donated to the River House in Beverly.  

The River House "helps homeless individuals return to lives of self-sufficiency," by providing shelter and opportunities to work with the staff to find work, permanent shelter and health care.  Rugby coach Justin McIntyre said of the event, "The Polar Plunge offered us an opportunity to bond as teams and programs while raising money and awareness for such a worth-while organization.  The turnout was an overwhelming success and surpassed our highest estimations.  We are glad to see this event grow so much and hope to continue to do so in the future."

"For rugby specifically," continued McIntyre, "it offered the chance for such a young program to bond and instill solid morals and practices while showing what the rugby culture is all about."  This is the third straight year that the Endicott Athletic Department has participated in the Polar Plunge at Lynch Park.
