Beverly, Mass. – The Endicott men’s and women’s basketball squads and men’s volleyball team did their part in helping out the North Shore community by volunteering at the Cape Ann Food Pantry as well as a Briscoe Middle School after school dodgeball program.
While at the Cape Ann Food Pantry, an Gloucester establishment dedicated to alleviating the impact of hunger in the North Shore area, the Gull student-athletes spent time stocking shelves, handling holiday decorations, packaging food and unloading trucks to assist in the pantry’s needs. Some stocked the shelves with items such as peanut butter, corn, gravy, pasta and sauce while others bagged the food to create a more efficient process. The Cape Ann Food Pantry also welcomed a new intern and the Endicott participants helped by straightening out office space and doing some filing.
Men’s volleyball senior David Olson said, “I feel, that with our help, we were able to help with some of the responsibilities and give more time to other workers to help customers in need.”
Cate Cullen, a senior on the women’s basketball, saw the reward in the work her team did at the Cape Ann Food Pantry, “We are very fortunate to have the things we do and it is a great feeling to be able to help others who may not be as fortunate. The Endicott community is all about helping others and this is just another way that we as student-athletes can do our part.”

While at the Briscoe Middle School, Endicott’s winter athletes volunteered at an after school dodgeball program, helping with refereeing games, setting up and breaking down games, and participating with the kids. Their presence also helped out the physical education teachers that are often times running the program all by themselves.
“It was rewarding to see how into the games the kids were getting and how competitive and active they were,” said senior men’s volleyball player Zeke Kubisch. “Being there made it more fun for the kids to play against us and it helped the teachers who appreciated our contribution.”
