The Endicott Women's Novice 4+ crew lead off the action with a third place finish. The women's four comprised of freshman Michelle Duffy at stroke, Rachel Lemeiux at 3, Kendra Czernicki at 2, Sarah McDonaugh in bow and Danielle Boucher as the coxswain. The novice four women gave great effort in their first competition together finishing the race with a personal best time of 24:37. Coach Tim Dufner has been working with the boat and can see even more improvements coming over the next few weeks, and can see even better results coming for this boat.
The Endicott novice men's 4+ placed fifth and learned an important lesson about pacing the effort in a three mile race. The first half of the piece the boat was in the thick of the action until fatigue set and and had them drift off the pace. The men's novice 4+ boat consisting of Joseph Paolini at stroke, Andrew Salvatore at 3, Cody Schwass at 2, Colby Clarizia at bow, and Jim Dooley as coxswain finished the race in 28:00. With some additional practice and pacing the coaches expect to see some big jumps in speed from this crew in the coming weeks.
The novice mixed 8+ consisting of Michelle Duffy, Rachel Lemeiux, Kendra Czerniki, Sarah McDonaugh, Brittany Janeczek Allison Lessard, Nick Vecchio, Brad Hunt, and Danielle Boucher at coxswain had a strong piece down the course and demonstrated the depth the novice team has as well as the vast potential moving forward. The novice 8 completed the race in 24:40.
The Endicott varsity crew finished out the day for the team. First up was Endicott women's varsity 4+. Endicott's 4+ consisted of three sophomores and two juniors. Andrea Ford stroked, Rachel Mueller at 3, Jennifer Thomas at 2, Marina Phillips at bow, and Maria Bautista at coxswain. The Gulls came into the race with the plan on racing a controlled and attacking rhythm down the course. The women executed the race plan well and were under-stroking the field by 2-3 strokes a minute while rowing a strong rhythm. They placed sixth in a strong field with a time of 20:36. Over the next few weeks they will be focusing on bringing that rhythm and control down the course with a higher stroke rate to make that next leap in the standings.
The Endicott varsity men's 4+ finished off the day. Much like the counterparts on the women's side the goal of this boat was to establish a good controlled rhythm down the course based off their body swing and a relaxed recovery. The men's crew were executing the plan to perfection moving with the crews in front of them when an equipment issue forced them off the pace. The varsity men still finished the race with a time of 19:35. They look forward to their next time out and completing the race without and display the results of the efforts and changes they have underwent this season.
