Ozycz earns second ECAC Defensive Player of the Week nod this season
CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Midfielder and face-off specialist Sam Ozycz (Cheshire, Conn.) earned his second ECAC Defensive Player of the Week award in recognition of his efforts against Wentworth and Salve Regina last week.
CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Midfielder and face-off specialist Sam Ozycz (Cheshire, Conn.) earned his second ECAC Defensive Player of the Week award in recognition of his efforts against Wentworth and Salve Regina last week.
Ozycz won 89.5% (43-of-48) of his face-off attempts and collected a total of 38 groundballs, 19 in each game, while scoring one goal. He continues to rank #1 among all NCAA DIII men's lacrosse players in groundballs per game (13.1) and moved up to third in the country in face-off win percentage (72.6%).
Ozycz has now won the award twice this season after being given the same award back on March 26th. He is also a three-time CCC Defensive Player of the Week award winner.
Following Endicott's 12-10 victory over #4 Tufts Tuesday night, a game in which Ozycz went 19-of-26 on face-offs with 12 groundballs and a goal, the Gulls look ahead to a Saturday CCC showdown with Roger Williams starting at 12:00 pm at Endicott Stadium.
