Endicott 4, Bowdoin 14; non-conference loss costs Gulls second straight game

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Endicott men's lacrosse team will head into their Senior Day match up with Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Nichols on Sunday on a two-game losing skid as the Gulls lost a non-conference game on the road against NESCAC rival Bowdoin 14-4, falling to 10-5 overall on the season.

Endicott (10-5, 5-1 CCC) will honor eight seniors prior to the start of Sunday afternoon's showdown with Nichols at Endicott Stadium.  Face-off is at 1:00 pm as the Gulls begin the first two of conference games to end the regular season. 

Gulls senior attacker Connor McCormack (Norwalk, Conn.) scored back-to-back goals at the 9:50 and 8:49 marks of the first quarter to give the Blue and Green a 2-1 advantage early in the first quarter, but the Polar Bears quickly tied the game on the first of four goals by senior attacker Billy Bergner (Fairfield, Conn.).  Bowdoin then scored again with 1:30 remaining in the opening quarter, David Nemirov (Setauket, N.Y.) from Tyler Williams (North Hampton, N.H.), to take the lead. 

McCormack's goals in the first quarter were assisted by sophomores Nick Pinciaro (Beverly, Mass.) and Joshua Tordik (Sayville, N.Y.).

Bergner and Williams scored as part of a five-goal run for the Polar Bears as the home squad took a 6-2 advantage 4:29 into the second quarter.  Endicott sophomore Scott McCormack's (Norwalk, Conn.) unassisted goal one minute cut lead down to three but the Blue and Green would not score again until the 8:33 mark of the fourth quarter.

The Polar Bears took a 9-3 advantage at halftime and stretched their lead to 12-3 before Endicott senior long-stick midfielder Kyle Burke (Haverhill, Mass.) connected with freshman Cameron Bell (Falmouth, Maine) for Burke's fourth goal and Bell's second assist of the season.  The Gulls would be held scoreless for the remainder of the game.

Bergner finished with a game-high four goals with junior Franklin Reis (Hampton Falls, N.H.) adding four points of his own on two goals and two assists.  Nemirov had three points on a goal and two assists and freshman Peter Reuter (Ridgewood, N.J.) found the back of the net twice.

In net, Bowdoin senior Christopher Williamson (Winnetka, Ill.) made eight saves in the win while his counterpart, Bell, stuffed 18 Polar Bear shots on goal but took his fourth loss of the year. 

Endicott face-off specialist Sam Ozycz (Cheshire, Conn.) won 14-of-21 attempts at the draw with 12 groundballs. 

As a team, Endicott was 17-of-26 on clear attempts and 0-for-3 on man-up opportunities while holding Bowdoin scoreless on five man-up chances of their own.
