NFCA names DiBella, Martin, and Russo All-New England
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released their annual All-Region Teams and Endicott sophomore Sam DiBella (Danvers, Mass.) as well as seniors Colleen Martin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and Jocelyn Russo (Middletown, Conn.) were named All-New England for their performance on the field this past spring.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released their annual All-Region Teams and Endicott sophomore Sam DiBella (Danvers, Mass.) as well as seniors Colleen Martin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and Jocelyn Russo (Middletown, Conn.) were named All-New England for their performance on the field this past spring.
DiBella, a First Team All-CCC third baseman in her rookie year, batted .349 with 30 hits including 10 for extra bases. Of those extra-base hits, DiBella cracked a team-high seven homeruns. She totaled 22 RBI and 21 runs scored. The NFCA named her Second Team All-New England for her efforts.
Martin led the Gulls with a .398 batting average while sporting a .480 on-base percentage and a .675 slugging percentage. She hit six homeruns, three doubles, and one triple while knocking in 21 runs with 25 runs scored. Martin also swiped four bags this season. She was named First Team All-CCC as the first base position and Third Team All-New England by the NFCA.
Russo was placed on the NFCA All-New England Third Team along with Martin after collecting All-CCC First Team honors as a designated player. Russo batted .343 on the season with 35 hits including a team-high nine doubles. Russo drove in 14 runs and crossed the plate 17 times herself. She walked seven times and stole two bases in her senior season.
Endicott claimed three of the seven representatives from Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) institutions as did Roger Williams. Hawks freshman and CCC Rookie of the Year Veronica Alicia was named to the NFCA All-New England First Team, senior Lauren Tierney was placed on the Second Team, and freshman Chelsea Boulrisse was named Third Team. Western New England got one bid as junior Maria Francese was named Second Team All-New England.
