SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott women's soccer has claimed two of the most recent Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC)'s weekly awards. First year LeeAnn Card (Paxton, Mass.) was named Rookie of the Week and sophomore Katie Donnelly (Madison, Conn.) earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The awards were announced Monday afternoon by the CCC office and Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.
Endicott is coming off of a 1-1-1 week that saw them collect their fourth consecutive conference victory, a 1-0 road win at Western New England on Saturday afternoon.
Card was the hero in that game, scoring her third goal of the year just over a minute before halftime to break a scoreless draw. The goal would hold up as the game-winner for Card and the Gulls.
Donnelly collected her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season this week, and yielded just two goals in 290 minutes for a 0.62 goals against average in three gmaes. She made ten saves in a non-conference 0-0 tie with Tufts on Tuesday, then preserved the lead on Saturday with two stops. Prior to a 2-0 loss at Williams on Sunday, Donnelly had kept five consecutive clean sheets. Her 0.44 goals against average for the season puts her in the top 20 in the nation in that statistic.
The Gulls (8-5-2, 4-1-1 CCC) will return to conference action on Wednesday when they travel to Nichols for a 3:00 pm afternoon tilt.
