Linda L. Anderson-Mercier was a faculty member for 18 years and the Chairperson of Physical Education and Recreation Department from 1962 to 1978; the first person to provide real leadership, direction and continuity to the division. She pushed to create the first Physical Education and Recreation degree programs ever offered at Endicott, and was also a dynamic force for starting intramurals and intercollegiate sporting opportunities for women.
Upon leaving Endicott, Linda spent 20 years in higher education as the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid Services at several colleges and universities. She was the President of the Massachusetts Association and the Eastern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, as well as serving on the National Board of Directors of Student Financial Aid Administrators. Linda was committed to community service and served on the Board of Directors for the Greater Beverly YMCA, the River House, Inc., the Beverly Affordable Housing Coalition and the Salvation Army-North Shore Corps. She continued to be a “Good Will Ambassador” for the College by helping on various committees both on and off campus.
