TCCC Athletes of the Week
Springfield, Mass. - Endicott's freshman first baseman and pitcher Jake Northrup (Boxborough, Mass.) was named Rookie of the Week by The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) in a week that saw the Gulls go 5-1 during their Florida spring trip.
Northrup hit safely in five of six games, batting .444 (8-of-18) with five extra-base hits including three doubles, a triple, and a home run. The freshman drove in nine runs, seven of which came in a doubleheader sweep over Framingham State on St. Patrick's Day. He also scored three runs over the course of the week.
On the mound, Northrup made his second save in as many chances in the first game against Framingham State as well. He came on to pitch the two thirds of an inning, striking out one batter as the Gulls won 8-5 over the Rams.
Defensively, Northrup made just one error all week which was good for a .980 fielding percentage.
Northrup and the Gulls return to action for their first home game on Wednesday, March 23rd against Salem State University starting at 3:00 pm.
