Loparco Earns ABCA Division III Assistant Coach of the Year Award
BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott baseball assistant coach Alex Loparco has been named the 2025 American Baseball Coaches Association's (ABCA) National Division III Assistant Coach of the Year, the organization announced on Wednesday morning.
Since 1999, the ABCA has honored a National Coach of the Year, and in 2018, the award was expanded to recognize a National Assistant Coach of the Year in each of the 11 divisions: NCAA Div. I, NCAA Div. II, NCAA Div. III, NAIA, NJCAA Div. I, NJCAA Div. II, NJCAA Div. III, Pacific Association Division & High School Divisions I, II and III.
Coaching expertise, recruiting, loyalty to the program and respect for the players and the game are some of the many criteria examined when reviewing the candidates for ABCA National Assistant Coach of the Year.
After Endicott baseball's unparalleled success in its 2025 season, Loparco was chosen as the Division III recipient for the esteemed honor.
In his second full season with the Gulls in 2025, Loparco's guidance over the offense and infield defense brought the program to new heights. Endicott posted a record of 45-6 (16-0 CNE) and reached its third consecutive College World Series in 2025. The Gulls later advanced to the national semifinals for the first time in program history, in large part thanks to Loparco's contributions.
The Blue and Green were among the national leaders in a myriad of offensive categories this past season. Among those, the team ranked tops in scoring (10.8 runs per game), second in runs (550), fifth in home runs (74), sixth in slugging percentage (.542), ninth in on-base percentage (.444), 10th in doubles (110), and 12th in batting average (.338).
They also ranked first in sacrifice flies (54), showcasing their ability to capitalize on scoring chances.
Some other stats that put into reference just how potent the Endicott lineup has been through Loparco's first two seasons can be seen with runners in scoring position (RISP) statistics. As a team in 2025, the Gulls were 264-for-708 with RISP, which equates to a .374 batting average.
Dating back to the start of the 2024 season, they are 468-for-1405 (.333) with RISP, and also feature a surreal batting average of .683 (287-for-420) with runners on third base and less than two outs in that two-year span.
Since 2024, the Gulls possess an astronomical record of 92-10 (29-1 in-conference; .902 win-percentage) and a perfect record at North Field (52-0).
The Endicott lineup has also churned out two All-Americans, Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.) and John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.), and 15 All-Region bats in Loparco's two seasons.
When asked about Loparco's contributions to the program, head coach Bryan Haley said, "Alex has done an outstanding job working with our hitters and infield defense over the past two years. He's a true student of the game, bringing a wealth of knowledge to the players he coaches. More importantly, he's taken the time to build personal relationships with each player, grounded in honesty and trust. I couldn't be more proud of Alex for earning this well deserved national recognition."
