No. 24 Baseball Two-Hits Salem State; Wins 10-0 (7 Inn.)
BEVERLY, Mass. — For the second straight day, the No. 24 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team won via the mercy-rule, as the Gulls bested the Salem State Vikings, 10-0, in Wednesday afternoon's non-conference bout from North Field.
WP (4-1): Ben Gill (Sanford, Maine) — 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
LP (1-2): Matt Walling (Plantsville, Conn.) — 3 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
Adam Regan (Braintree, Mass.) led off with a walk, stole a bag, and later came in to score on Kyle Grabowski's (Westfield, Mass.) sac fly to put the Gulls up 1-0 in the first.
In the third, the Blue and Green grabbed some insurance with a six-spot, as they batted around in an inning for the fourth time in two days.
Trevor Kamuda (Groveland, Mass.) led off with an infield single before Regan belted his third homer of the season to give the Gulls a 3-0 lead.
Then, TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) drilled a triple off the left field fence, and Grabowski smashed a two-run bomb into left for the second Gulls two-run homer of the inning.
Later in the frame, Finn Adams (Stratham, N.H.) drove in AJ Hamm (Shrewsbury, Mass.) on a sac fly to right, and in his second plate appearance of the inning, Kamuda sent an RBI double into the left center field gap to make it 7-0.
The Blue and Green added three more in the bottom of the sixth courtesy of a Liponis RBI single, a Hamm RBI walk, and a Brenden Walsh (Reading, Mass.) sac fly.
That 10-run cushion enacted the mercy rule, and from there, Kyan Bagshaw (Amherst, N.H.) retired the side in the top of the seventh to lock up the 10-0 win.
On the mound, Max Jarvie (Wilton, Conn.) (2 IP), Gill (3 IP), Jake Harmony (Fairfield, Conn.) (1 IP), and Bagshaw (1 IP) combined to throw the seven shutout innings.
