No. 22 Baseball Drops Road Contest At Tufts, 11-6
MEDFORD, Mass. — The No. 22 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team fell in Sunday's road contest at Tufts, 11-6, in non-conference action from Sol Gittleman field.
WP (2-0): Mark Herlihy (Wellesley, Mass.) — 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
LP (0-3): Evan Scully (Maynard, Mass.) — 1.1 IP, 2 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 0 K
After the Jumbos jumped on the Gulls pitchers for 11 runs through the first four innings, the Blue and Green were ultimately unable to recover.
However, the Gulls' offense began to chip away and make it close late in the contest.
Their first two runs came in the fifth, as TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) doubled home Adam Regan (Braintree, Mass.), and Kyle Grabowski (Westfield, Mass.) later plated Liponis after he reached on an error by the third baseman.
Then, The Gulls added two more in the seventh via another Liponis RBI base-knock, a timely Grabowski double, and a Brenden Walsh (Reading, Mass.) RBI infield single.
In the eighth, they surmounted another mini-rally. Liponis knocked in Regan once more with an RBI single up the middle, while Grabowski again reached on an error that plated Liponis.
With the score at 11-6, the Gulls were unable to muster up any further scoring, and eventually fell by the 11-6 final.
