No. 19/27 Baseball Falls To Gordon, 3-2; Historic Home Winning Streak Snapped
BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 19/27 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team had its historic home winning streak snapped at the hands of Gordon in Tuesday afternoon's Conference of New England (CNE) nailbiting 3-2 matchup at North Field.
WP (1-0): Hunter Simpson (Prospect, Conn.) — 4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
LP (1-1): Jake Harmony (Fairfield, Conn.) — 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
The Gulls grabbed a lead in the fifth inning after John Fusco (Naples, Fla.) led off with a walk and stole second. He later came around to score on Adam Regan's (Braintree, Mass.) fielder's choice RBI groundout.
Then, TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) singled Regan to the plate to make it 2-0 Gulls.
The Blue and Green held that lead until the top of the seventh, when the Fighting Scots scraped across three runs with some timely hitting to take their first lead of the day.
From there, the Gulls were never able to force across the tying run, and with a heroic 4.2 innings pitched in relief by Hunter Simpson, the visiting Scots nailed down the historic road win.
