Liponis, Gulls Capture NCAA Statistical Champion Accolades
BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott baseball team and shortstop TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) have each claimed some Division III Statistical Champion honors in a total of three different categories following the conclusion of the 2026 season.
Liponis led all Division III baseball student-athletes with his 27 doubles on the season. The mark also set a program single-season record, surpassing Nicolas Notarangelo '24 (Taunton, Mass.) (20) for the top spot.
Additionally, as a team, the Gulls led Division III in two statistical categories.
The top-notch pitching staff limited opposing lineups to just 7.18 hits per nine innings while also finishing off a total of 12 shutouts throughout the season. Both marks led all of Division III, crowning the Blue and Green as statistical champions in those categories.
YEAR IN REVIEW
Endicott (44-14) appeared in its first ever national championship. The Gulls won game two in walkoff fashion to force game three, but ultimately fell to Denison, 4-3, in the winner-take-all finale on June 4.
Among the many impressive feats from this year's squad, one of the most impressive was their performance in winner-take-all elimination games.
The 2026 Gulls were the first team in DIII history to win four winner-take-all games, which eventually earned them a berth in the national championship.
With their run to the College World Series, Endicott became the first team since Chapman (2005-09) to appear in four straight CWS'.
