SPRING PREVIEW: Crew Opens Up Spring Season On April 2

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott crew team will open up its spring season on April 2. Here's a preview of what lies ahead for the Gulls in 2016.
Endicott will return a smaller but talented team to the water this spring. Despite the small numbers, the Gulls will be guided by a strong group of senior rowers, headlined by women's captain Kendra Czernicki (North Chelmsford, Mass.).
The Gulls have trained dilligently during the winter season and are looking to improve on their strong fall season. The team has seen tremendous technical growth and new personal records with their erg scores.
Returning sophomore Brenna Shannahan (Shelton, Conn.) and junior Christina Jocelyn (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), who is back from her semester abroad, have set the standard on the women's team, while sophomore Brendan McGuire (Kings Park, N.Y.) has paced the men's side.
Also returning to the team are coxswains Stephanie Leone (Oxford, Conn.), Caroline Judd (Litchfield, Conn.), Nicholas Hadley, and senior Katherine Delaney-Rodriguez (Belmont, Mass.), who will be leading the rowers down the course during the races and encouraging them during pracitces.
Endicott will be racing a very competitive schedule this sping, opening on Saturday April 2 in Lowell, Mass. against Mass Maritime, UMass Lowell, and Wentworth, among others. The following weekend the Gulls will travel down to Worcester on April 9 to take on Bryant, Assumption, Clark, and Mount Holyoke on Quinsigamond.
Up next will be the UMass Lowell Invitational on April 16. The Gulls will face off against a strong field of 12 other teams from around the region.
On a date to be determined the Gulls will begin what they hope is a yearly race against Gordon College on their home course of Chebacco Lake in Essex. The Gulls will then conclude their competitive season down in Philadelphia at the Dad Vail Regatta where they will face off against teams from all around the country.
This spring the Endicott men's squad will be competeing in the Varsity Four consisting of Jesse Gottesdienier (Newton Center, Mass.), Jake Somosky (Glastonbury, Conn.), freshman Addison Culupa (Jericho, Vt.), and McGuire.
The women will field a Varsity Four a Novice Four and a Varsity 8 rowed by first-year rowers Gabrielle Wiggan (Lebanon, Maine), Michelle Lorenti (Andover, Mass.), Micaela Raftery (Nashua, N.H.), Kendra Kirby (Redding, Conn.), and Victoria Ziolek (Nashua, N.H.). The Varsity Boats will be comprised of Czernicki, Georgie Klinger (New Hartford, Conn.), Claire McKinnon (West Roxury, Mass.), Erika Mercieri (Monson, Mass.), Rachel Lemeiux (Claremont, N.H.), Rachele Stein (Washington, D.C.), Jocelyn, Brooke Bulawka (Bolton, Mass.), and Shannahan.
