EC Riders Capture First Championship

Medway, MA-- The Equestrian Team won High Point School by a decisive number over Boston University, Boston College, Tufts University and others. At a show hosted by Wellesley College, the riders of Endicott, under the guidance of Coach Stephanie Andreottola, won its first Championship.

In addition, junior Megan Piermarini won her flat and fences classes, thus winning High Point Rider, another first for the Endicott Equestrian Team.

Endicott's strength has usually been in the flat classes but not on Sunday - the team was hot everywhere. Open rider Lauren Eldridge started the day in this hyper-competitive level with a second place over fences and a fourth on the flat. Elissa Paquin won a second and Anne Marie Coursey got a third in their Intermediate Fences class and then came Megan Piermarini with a blue in Novice Fences.

Continuing in the flat classes, Anne Marie Coursey brought home a blue ribbon of her own in Intermediate Flat and Karissa Bonner did likewise. Megan received her second blue of the day in her Novice flat class, while Corie Felton received a second and Sarah Ireland a fourth. Chelsea Conant rounded up the blue ribbon deluge with a 1st in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter and Cara Sorbello added in a third place. Finally, Haley Mackay won a third place in Walk-Trot, although she is sure she didn't breathe during the entire class.

Icing one the cake: Alumni rider Alexis Bochain came in second in her flat class.

All-in-all March 20, although chilly and cloudy, left the Endicott Equestrian team shining with victory and too happy to be cold.

The final regular season show will be hosted by Boston University and will be held in Hanover, MA on April 2.
