Oct. 13, 2007
WELLESLEY, MA - Wellesley College freshman Kimberly Eaton (Shepherdstown, WV) shot a 75 on the second day of the 2007 Wellesley Fall Invitational to propel the Blue to a first-place finish overall with a team score of 667.
Eaton earned medalist honors placing first in a field of 48 golfers with a two-day total of 153 (78-75) at the par-72 Nehoiden Golf Course in Wellesley. Eaton's second round 75 was the lowest round ever recorded by a Wellesley golfer in the Fall Invitational.
Taking second place overall, Amherst's Hayley Milbourn had the tournament's low round shooting a 74 on day two. Her two day total of 155 put her two strokes off of Eaton's pace. Rounding out the top three individual finishers, Williams' Anne O'Leary placed third, shooting rounds of 76 and 81 for a score of 157 overall.
Wellesley claimed it's first title since 2004 shooting rounds of 334 and 334, lows for both days. The Blue finished with a seven stroke lead over second place Amherst College who finished with a total of 674 (340-334). Williams took third place with a two-day total of 677 (339-338).
The Fall Invitational marks the end of the fall season for the Wellesley golfers who have won their last three outings. The Blue will return to the links on Friday, April 18, 2008 to take part in the Jack Leaman Invitational at Mount Holyoke College.
