Endicott Drops Home Opener to Wheaton 1-0

Endicott College field hockey played their first home game of the season against non-conference opponent Wheaton College(Norton, MA)Tuesday afternoon.
The score remained 0-0 for the first half of the game, although both teams had several opportunities to score. Endicott took 6 shots to Wheaton's 7.
In second half play, Endicott kept the ball on their attacking end led by freshman forward Caitlin Murray(Templeton, MA. Endicott offense took 17 shots in the second half. On defense, juniors Jen Carney(Wenham, MA) and Ali Beaulieu(Augusta, ME), and freshman Katie DeFeo (York, ME.) kept the ball above the twenty-five, allowing just two shots on goal from Wheaton's attack.
Senior captain goalkeeper Kelly McNamara(Reading, MA) played all 70:00 minutes in goal for the Gulls, only getting beat by a penalty stroke from Wheaton forward captain Laura Oswald(Pacific Grove, CA) with 4:30 remaining in regulation play.
The Gulls return to action on Thursday at 4pm at home against American International College.
