Gulls cruise past Regis, 11-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott College field hockey team cruised to an 11-0 victory over visiting Regis College in the TCCC regular season finale for both teams on Saturday morning in Beverly, Mass. The Gulls head into the TCCC Playoffs at 11-7 overall and 7-1 in the TCCC while Regis wraps up its season at 0-13 and 0-8 in conference. Endicott honored lone senior \#Megan McBride\# (Saugus, Mass.) as a part of Senior Day while the forward scored a pair of goals in her final regular season home game.
Endicott got on the board early as \#Anna Giannoni\# (Granby, Conn.) scored within the first minute of play as she knocked down a \#Joanne Reid\# (Clarksville, Md.) shot and blasted it past Regis’ Sara Ankerud (Groton, Mass.) for an early 1-0 lead. Reid then assisted on McBride’s first tally of the game nearly five minutes later, followed by a goal of her own on a feed from \#Hannah Thornberg\# (Oakland, Maine). \#Lindsey Mills\# (Arlington, Mass.) joined the scoring with her second of the season while \#Francesca Cacace\# (Pembroke, Bermuda), McBride and \#Michaela Brotherton\# (Bartlett, N.H.) each scored to give the Gulls a 7-0 lead heading into the half.
The Gulls tacked on four more in the second period as \#Cassie DeSimone\# (Reading, Mass.), \#Hannah Thornberg\#, Cacace and \#Allison Forgues\# (Auburn, Maine) each potted goals for Endicott in the 11-0 win.
Endicott’s \#Taylor Teixeira\# (Exeter, N.H.) picked up her 11th victory of the season while facing only three shots. Her counterpart, Regis’ Ankerud, made 19 saves on 42 shots in the defeat. Meghan Robohm (North Easton, Mass.), Molly Teixeira (Ringe, N.H.) and Victoria Pappas (Niantic, Conn.) each registered shots for the Pride while Pappas and Nicole Engrem (Wilmington, Mass.) picked up defensive saves.
The Gulls now move onto the TCCC Playoffs where their seed and opponent are yet to be determined. The Blue and Green currently sit tied atop the TCCC standings in a three-way race with Nichols College and the University of New England. The Bison take on Gordon College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday while the Nor’Easters host New England College on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
