BEVERLY, Mass. — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced the 2019 DIII All-Region teams on Tuesday and Endicott saw five student-athletes earn All-Region selections. Leading the way are Kristen McCarthy (Danvers, Mass.) and Sydney Poulin (Watertown, Mass.) who were selected to the All-New England East First Team, while Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.), Abby Carter (Richmond, Vt.), and Emily Graham (Westford, Mass.) were chosen to the All-New England East Second Team.
The five All-Region members guided Endicott to a program record 19 wins which were highlighted by the Gulls claiming their second straight Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship and a first-round NCAA Tournament victory over Wilson (8-1). Other notable triumphs this season included No. 14 Babson (3-1), and regional power MIT (3-1).
The Gulls' five All-Region honorees also helped Endicott earn their first-ever national ranking of No. 20.
KRISTEN MCCARTHY | LONGSTRETH / NFHCA ALL-NEW ENGLAND EAST FIRST TEAM
McCarthy's second straight All-Region nod comes during a season where she was also named the CCC Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, All-CCC First Team, and was selected to play in the Victory Sports Tour / NFHCA Division III Senior Game. In the 2019 season, the senior forward led the Gulls in all offensive categories, goals (23), assists (11) and points (57). McCarthy also climbed the record books in 2019 becoming the fastest player in program history to earn 100 career points, and now sits second all-time in career points at 132. In addition, she now sits first all-time in assists (28) and third all-time in goals scored (52).
SYDNEY POULIN | LONGSTRETH / NFHCA ALL-NEW ENGLAND EAST FIRST TEAM
Following a season where she set career highs in goals (13) and points (35), Poulin received her second straight All-Region honors for the Gulls. The All-CCC First teamer was second on the team in assists (9), and points (35), and third on the team in goals (13), two of which came in a critical conference game against the University of New England (UNE) (2-0, W) on October 22.
TAYLOR FARRIN | LONGSTRETH / NFHCA ALL-NEW ENGLAND EAST SECOND TEAM
After receiving All-CCC First team honors, Farrin finds herself as an All-New England East selection for the third season in a row. The junior goalie started in every game this season for the Gulls setting a new career-high for games started. Farrin also set new career highs in goals-against average (1.26) and wins (19) to go along with seven shutouts. Farrin also moved her way up the record books in 2019 setting a new single-season record for wins (19) and becoming third all-time in saves (351).
ABBY CARTER | LONGSTRETH / NFHCA ALL-NEW ENGLAND EAST SECOND TEAM
Carter earns her first All-New England East selection in 2019, which pairs with her first All-CCC First Team nod. The sophomore defender started every game for the Gulls along the backline. Carter was a key member of a defense that had a goals-against-average of 1.26 and seven shutouts. Carter also contributed on the offensive end for the Gulls registering six assists which were a career-high.
EMILY GRAHAM | LONGSTRETH / NFHCA ALL-NEW ENGLAND EAST SECOND TEAM
2019 was a year of firsts for Graham. She garnered an All-CCC team selection for the first time in her career, as well as earning an All-New England East selection for the first time. Graham started every game this season for the Blue and Green as a key member of the defense. She was pivotal in helping the Gulls earn seven shutouts as she made seven defensive saves throughout the 2019 campaign, four of Graham's defensive saves came in games where Endicott shutout their opponents. Graham also had a key defensive save in the Gulls' 3-2 CCC Championship victory over UNE.
