BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 24 Endicott field hockey team shutout non-conference opponent Wheaton (Mass.), 7-0, on Tuesday night at North Field.
Reagan Hicks (Barnstable, Mass.) headlined the offense for the Gulls recording two goals in the contest.
Riley Perkins (Lakeville, Mass.) started the scoring for the Blue and Green on a penalty stroke 11 minutes into the game. Just one minute later, Hicks tallied her first of the match to put the Gulls up 2-0 with Lily Farnham (Andover, Mass.) on the assist.
Tori Swanson (Farmington, Conn.) and Emma Wilichoski (Danvers, Mass.) tacked on two more before the end of the half to give Endicott a 4-0 lead heading into the break.
Hicks, Farnham, and Sabrina Brunet (South Burlington, Vt.) rounded out the goal scoring for the Gulls making the final score 7-0.
Defensively, Faith Minickene (Madison, Conn.) and Alexis DeMattia (Methuen, Mass.) combined for the shutout.
Minickene played the first half, while DeMattia held the line for the Gulls in the final two periods with two saves.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Gulls improve to 11-2 in the all-time series against the Lyons.
- Fist goal of the season for Wilichoski.
- Second straight game with a goal for Perkins. First time in her career she has scored in back-to-back games.
- Fourth multi-point game of the season for Swanson.
- Endicott now has three shutouts through five games this season.
WHAT'S NEXT
No. 24 Endicott (4-1) welcomes Conference of New England (CNE) opponent Hartford to North Field on Saturday for a 1 PM contest. Wheaton (3-3) welcomes Smith on Saturday for an 11 AM matchup.
