No. 24 Field Hockey Downs Hartford, 9-0
BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 24 Endicott field hockey team shut out Conference of New England (CNE) opponent Hartford, 9-0, on Wednesday afternoon at North Field.
Maddy Dengler (Winchester, Mass.), Reagan Hicks (Barnstable, Mass.), and Emma Wilichoski (Danvers, Mass.) all led the Gulls offense with five points apiece. Dengler and Hicks both had identical stat lines with two goals and an assist, while Wilichoski finished the contest with one goal and three assists.
Natalia Arjona (Ashland, Mass.), Sabrina Brunet (South Burlington, Vt.), Lily Farnham (Andover, Mass.), and Tori Swanson (Farmington, Conn.) all found the back of the net once in the win.
In goal, Faith Minickene (Madison, Conn.) and Caroline Harvey (Dover, Mass.) combined for the shutout. Minickene played the first three quarters as her record improved to 5-1 this season, as Harvey kept the shutout intact over the final 15 minutes.
After a scoreless first quarter, Endicott exploded for six goals over the next 15 minutes as Hicks scored her fifth and sixth goals of the season, and Arjona added the assist on the second tally. Then it was Arjona's turn to get on the scoresheet to push the lead to 3-0.
Wilichoski then scored or assisted on Endicott's next four goals in the game, as she assisted both Dengler and Swanson before scoring one of her own 21 seconds before halftime for a 6-0 lead at the break.
Coming out of halftime, Dengler and Farnham both scored with Wilichoski and Abby Antonelli (Worcester, Mass.) providing the assists. Brunet's tally just a minute into the fourth quarter ended the scoring for the Gulls as they secured the 9-0 victory.
