    NEW LONDON-NH- After a month layoff the Endicott Gulls travelled to Colby-Sawyer College and lost 49-47. The Gulls made a furious comeback in the final 5 minutes erasing a seven point deficit and taking a 2 point lead with 2 minutes to go. But two baskets by All-American Andrew St. Clair in the final minutes proved to be the difference.

    The Gulls were in their first game since December 9th, 2004 and showed some rust in the first half. Colby-Sawyer held Endicott to 36.4% shooting while the Chargers shot 50%. Endicott also had 12 turnovers in the first half but rebounded well enough to go into intermission with a 7-point deficit, 30-23.

    In the second half Endicott's defense improved holding Colby-Sawyer to 28% shooting and outrebounding Colby-Sawyer by 10. The defense was led by Sam Evans' (So., Philadelphia, PA) 7 rebounds and 2 blocks in the half. The offense still struggled as Colby-Sawyer built a seven point lead 45-38 with a little over 4 minutes to go.

    Endicott began it's run with a Zach Ellis (JR., Westford, MA) jumper cutting the lead to 5. Endicott then came up with a steal and throw ahead to Todd Burton (Fr., Lynn, MA) who dumped it off in transition to Carlos Nunez (Sr., Lawrence, MA) to cut the lead to 3, 45-42. Endicott then stopped Colby-Sawyer from scoring and found Josh Oxton (Sr., Center Harbor, NH) on the left wing for a three pointer that tied the game at 45. On the next play Sam Evans blocked a Colby-Sawyer jump shot and sprinted the floor for the go ahead basket on a pass from Matt George (Jr., Dover, NH) with 1:30 to go.

    Colby-Sawyer tied the game on a second shot put back by Andrew St. Clair with 1:00 minute to go. Endicott was unable to convert on the offensive end and dug in with 28 seconds to go in the game. Colby-Sawyer ran an alley-oop for St. Claire which Matt George read perfectly. Both players jumped in the air for the ball and tipped it. St. Clair then tipped it a second time towards the basket and it went in with 3 seconds to go. Matt George's last second desperation shot was unsuccessful.

    Endicott was led by Zach Ellis with 15 points including 4 three point baskets. Colby-Sawyer was led by Chris Condon with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Andrew St. Clair had 12 points and 8 rebounds. Endicott falls to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the CCC. Endicott next plays at Bates College Tuesday, January 11th at 7pm.
