Gulls Suffer First CCC Loss

New London, NH - The Endicott College Gulls suffered their first conference loss Saturday afternoon as they fell to Colby-Sawyer 71-61.
After EC took an early, 4-0 lead, Colby-Sawyer attacked the heart of the Gulls defense, slashing their way to the basket, scoring 20 of their first 42 points in the paint against Endicott.
The Chargers surged in the first half, building a 19 point lead, 41-22, with just over three minutes remaining in the half. EC was able to cut the deficit to 11 points at 42-31 going to the locker room.
In the second half, the Chargers once again pulled away building a 19 point lead, letting the Gulls get no closer than 13 for almost the entire second half. EC would mount a comeback, but the Chargers came away with the 10 point victory.
Ryan Murray (Killingworth, CT) corralled 19 rebounds, tying a school record and David Rosso (Wilmington, VT) led Colby-Sawyer with 12 points.
Mike Sullivan (Marshfield, MA/Marshfield) led all scorers with 16 points and seven rebounds. Todd Burton (Lynn, MA/St. Mary's) and Nemanja Marinkovic (Belgrade, Serbia/First Baptist TX) each added 12 points in the loss.
The win marks the third in a row for the Chargers (6-8, 5-2 CCC) while Endicott (5-7, 3-1 CCC) suffers their first loss in conference play.
The Gulls will look to bounce back when they take on cross town rival Gordon College on Tuesday, January 23 at 8:00 pm in Wenham.
