Marinkovic Leads Gulls over Colonels

Milton, MA - Nemanja Marinkovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Houston, TX/Second Baptist) notched a 22 point, 13 rebound double double as the Gulls edged out Curry College, 64-62 Saturday afternoon.
The lead changed hands six times over the games 40-minutes, with Endicott leading by nine, 38-29, at the end of the first half. The Colonels chipped away thanks to 21 points from Johnathan Bowers (Kalamazoo, MI/Comstock) and led by two with just over four minutes to play.
Marinkovic tied the game at 60-60 with a layup with 2:30 left to play before Gary Corbett (Danbury, CT/Danbury) hit two free throws to give EC a two point lead. Marinkovic's layup put the Gulls up four with 45 seconds left on the clock.
A Toby Brittian (Providence, RI/Tabor Academy) layup cut the Endicott lead to two and an EC turnover gave the Colonels a chance for one final play. Brittian's three point attempt fell short at the buzzer giving Endicott the two point win.
Marinkovic had the hot hand, shooting 10-of-16 from the floor and 2-of-3 from the free throw line to lead all scorers, his 13 boards were also a game high. Mike Sullivan (Marshfield, MA/Marshfield) had 15 points on five-of-six shooting and added six rebounds in the win, while Corbett had 11 points and six rebounds and was three-of-six from behind the arch.
EC struggled in the second half shooting just 36.4-percent from the floor (8-for-22) but where 10-of-14 from the free throw line allowing them to keep pace with Curry's 16-for-31 shooting in the second half.
The Colonels fall to 6-11 overall, 5-4 in the CCC, while Endicott improves to 7-8 and 5-2 in the CCC. The Gulls will next head to Boston on Tuesday, January 30, to take on Wentworth Institute of Technology before returning home on February 1, to host New England College at 8:00 pm.
