Turnovers Plague Gulls in 81-70 Loss

WORCESTER, MA - Turnovers once again plagued the Endicott College men's basketball team as the Gulls fell, 81-70 in a non-conference match up with WPI Thursday evening.
A 22-2 run early in the first half quickly turned a 5-2 deficit into a 24-7 advantage for the Engineers. However, Endicott stayed closed the gap by shoooting an eye-popping 61.7% (29-of-47) from the floor and out rebounded WPI 33-22.
Despite cutting the Engineers lead to six late in the second half, EC was betrayed by 35 turnovers on the evening, which lead to 34 WPI points.
Senior center Mike Sullivan (Marshfield, MA/Marshfield) led the Gulls with a team high 16 points on eight-of-11 shooting from the floor and pulled down a game-best 11 rebounds.
Todd Burton (Lynn, MA/St. Mary's/Canterbury School) and Gary Corbett (Danbury, CT/Danbury) each tallied nine points for the Gulls while Kevin McGuire (New City, NY/Albertus Magnus) scored eight and Nemanja Marinkovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Second Babtist, Houston, TX) added seven. On the night. The Endicott bench also played very well outscoring WPI's bench 24-2.
Ryan Cain (Webster, MA) led all scorers with a season-high 30 points and Antoine Coleman (Everett, MA) added 23 for the Engineers.
WPI has won three straight and improve to 6-1 on the season while the Gulls fall to 2-5. EC returns home on Saturday when they take on Wheaton College at 3:00pm.
