Profile: Joey is an exceptional athlete. An outstanding leaper, he is capable of making game changing plays on both ends of the floor. He improved significantly during his sophomore season, and is the leading scorer and rebounder returning to this year's team. As a Sophomore: Started 19 games. Averaged 25.9 minutes, 9.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Among the conference leaders in blocks (30), offensive rebounds (50), and FG Pct (53.4%). As a Freshman: Averaged 12.9 minutes and 3.5 points per game. Was 3rd on the team in blocked shots with 18. In High School: Played for Coach Paul Neal at Lawrence High School. Averaged 11.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game as a senior. Helped lead his team to the MYC championship and the MIAA North finals. Also led Lawrence High to an undefeated season and state championship in volleyball. Personal: Joey is the son of Lydia and Garcia Burgos. He is a Liberal Studies major.
