Kinney Picks Up First Career CNE Player Of The Week Award
BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott men's basketball junior forward Elijah Kinney (Nashville, Tenn.) has been named the Conference of New England's (CNE) Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
In Endicott's 2-1 campaign (1-0 CNE) last week, Kinney led the Gulls with team-highs of 74 points (26-41 FG), 39 rebounds, and four blocks.
His averages came out to 24.6 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks over the three-game stretch.
He logged three straight double-doubles, and also shot a lights-out 19-20 (95%) from the free throw line.
Kinney kicked off the three-game stretch with a career high 29-point (11-15 FG, 6-6 FT, 1-2 3 PT) scoring performance in Endicott's 84-73 CNE win over Nichols last Wednesday. He also pulled down 13 boards and swatted a shot in the Gulls' conference opener win.
Then, on Friday against Southern Maine he notched a 15-point (4-8 FG, 7-7 FT), 13-rebound double-double in Endicott's blowout 100-80 win against the Huskies.
He closed out the week by establishing another career-best scoring performance against Colby. In Endicott's near comeback victory, Kinney logged a team best 30 points (11-18 FG, 6-7 FT, 2-5 3PT), 13 rebounds, and four blocks. The Gulls trailed by 22 points with four minutes remaining, and nearly erased the deficit in full, as they closed the Mules' lead to just three points with under 10 seconds remaining. Kinney was a crucial contributor in the 93-89 hard-fought loss.
This marks Kinney's first career CNE Player of the Week award.
