Men's Basketball Ranked No. 22 In Latest D3hoops.com National Poll (Week 5)
BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's basketball team has been ranked No. 22 overall in the week five D3hoops.com national poll, the organization announced on Tuesday morning.
It is the first time the program has cracked the top-25 national rankings since the 2016-17 season, when they were ranked a program-best 19th overall in the final season poll.
It also marks the fourth time in program history that the team has been ranked in the top-25.
This season, the Gulls have been led by Marcus Montagnino (Gloucester, Mass.) and Elijah Kinney (Nashville, Tenn.), both of whom have been named National Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writer's Association (USBWA). They became the first teammates ever to both don those honors in the same season.
The two forwards are both among the top scorers and rebounders in the nation, statistically. Kinney is averaging 24.4 points (59.5% FG, 93.2% FT, 33.3% 3PT) and 12.6 rebounds, while Montagnino has posted 22.7 points (59.3% FG, 82.2% FT, 36.4% 3PT) and 7.5 rebounds per game.
As a team, the Gulls are ranked 16th nationally in scoring margin (15.2), 30th in field goal percentage (48.6%), 43rd in turnover margin (3.9), and are currently T-6th with their 11 wins this season.
