Wyman shoots a 77, Gulls place fifth as a team at RIC Spring Invitational

Providence, R.I. – The Endicott golf team finished fifth out of 12 teams at the Rhode Island College Spring Invitational and sophomore Jackson Wyman (Falmouth, Maine) placed third overall with a 77, just two shots behind the tournament medalist.
The one-day tournament, under windy conditions, was played at the Triggs Memorial Golf Course.
Rounding out the top five golfers for the Gulls were Andrew LaRocque (82, Averill Park, N.Y.), Stephen Price (87), Kenny Rubino (94, Southbury, Conn.) and Jack Carroll (95, West Hartford, Conn.).
As a team, the Blue and Green totaled a team score of 340, just one stroke behind the fourth place finisher Johnson & Wales. Husson (324) won the tournament followed by UMass Darmouth (326), Rhode Island College (333), Johnson & Wales and Endicott.
Senior Michael Hersey, from the first place Husson Eagles, was the medalist with a score of 75. He shot a 36 on the front nine and a 39 on the back nine to finish three over par for the day in a field of 60 golfers. He beat out Worcester State senior Chris Brunelle by one stroke.
The Gulls continue their spring season with the UMass Dartmouth Spring Invitational on April 9th-10th at the Allendale Country Club.
