Golfers finish fourth at Bowdoin Invitational

Brunswick, Maine - The Endicott men’s golf team kicked off the 2010 season with a fourth place showing over the weekend at the Bowdoin Invitational held at Brunswick Golf Club. The Gulls fired a team score of 635 over the two-day tournament, 16 shots behind first place Williams College. The Blue and Green also placed three individuals inside the top-15 in a field of 57 golfers.
Husson College tied Williams in team scoring but lost on a tiebreaker to finish in second place. St. Anselm College (623) rounded out the top three with a strong showing on day two.
Husson’s Mike Hersey (Presque Isle, Maine) was the top individual performer, shooting a pair of 74’s to finish with a 148 for the weekend. Endicott’s Jackson Wyman (Falmouth, Maine) paced the Gulls with a 154 (79-75) and finished sixth. With the top six finishers separated by just six strokes, Wyman’s 75 on Sunday nearly placed him in the top-3.
DJ Bennett (Madison, Conn.) and Miles Traiser (Jamestown, N.D.) finished tied for 14th individually with a 160. Bennett’s 76 on day one put him in fifth place going into the final round while Traiser made a charge on Sunday, firing a 76 to move into the top-15.
Andrew LaRocque (Averill Park, N.Y.) finished tied for 32nd with a 167. The senior’s tournament was highlighted by a 77 on Saturday. Teammate Jack Carroll (West Hartford, Conn.) finished two shots behind him with a 169.
The Gulls will take a weekend off before traveling to the Southern Maine Fall Classic on September 26th and 27th. The tournament will be held at Sable Oaks Golf Club in South Portland, Maine.
