Power Play Pushes No. 11/12 Endicott Past Johnson & Wales, 5-2

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 11/12 Endicott men's ice hockey team scored four power play goals on five chances en route to a 5-2 league win over Johnson & Wales University (JWU) on Thursday night at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

Entering tonight's game, the Gulls power play unit ranked fifth in the county and it didn't disappoint as the Gulls stormed out to a 3-0 lead behind man-advantage tallies from Tommy Besinger (Milton, Mass.), Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.), and Cam Bleck (Lake Forest, Ill.) in the first, second, and third periods, respectively.

After Bleck's 11th goal of the season one minute into the third, both teams exchanged four-straight goals with Endicott receiving tallies from Kalinowski (13:26) on the power play, and an empty netter from Brendan Shane (Rochester, N.Y.).

Gulls' netminder Kevin Aldridge (Birmingham, Mich.) made 24 saves in the win (13-3-2), and also assisted on Bleck's goal, while Joey Ballmer (Kalamazoo, Mich.) had 30 saves in the loss (7-10-2) for JWU.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Endicott is 4-0-0 in the all-time series versus the Wildcats.
• The four power play goals tonight established a new single-game program record.
• The Gulls also entered tonight's game ranked fourth in the country in scoring offense, fifth in scoring defense, second in scoring margin, fifth on the penalty kill, and second in combined special teams.
• Aldridge dished out his second assist of his career in tonight's win.

FOR THE FOES

• Logan Fortier (Newport, Vt.) cut into JWU's deficit at 3-1 at the 9:38 mark of the third period on feeds from Victor Carlsson (Calmar, Sweden) and Connor Bates (Laconia, N.H.).
• Kevin McDonald (Ashburn, Va.) made it 4-2 at 15:02 of the third when he one-timed a shot top-shelf, blocker side from the right faceoff circle on passes via Tristan Goodwin (East Haven, Conn.) and Stefan Brucato (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) for his first goal of the season.
• Ben Brouillard (Somerset, Mass.) notched a game-high four blocked shots.
• Bates won a game-high 16 faceoffs.

No. 11/12 Endicott (15-3-2, 9-3-1 CCC) hosts Wentworth this Saturday at 2:50 PM. Prior to the game, Endicott athletic training seniors Maryanne Fitzgerald (Laurel, N.Y.), Anthony Giorgio (Methuen, Mass.), Zachary Fried (Cranford, N.J.), Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.), Sierra Shemanskis (Windsor, Conn.), and Haliegh White (Taunton, Mass.) will be honored at Raymond J. Bourque Arena as part of Athletic Training Student Senior Day.

JWU (8-10-2, 4-8-1 CCC) welcomes the University of New England to its home rink this Saturday at 7:00 PM.
