Jack Musil Signs With Elite Ice Hockey League’s (EIHL) Braehead Clan

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott senior forward Jack Musil (Hull, England) has signed a professional contract with the Braehead Clan of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL).

"I am so happy for Jack and his family," said Endicott men's ice hockey head coach R.J. Tolan. "I have all the faith in the world that he will continue to represent himself, his family, and Endicott College as a special person and asset to the Braehead organization."

In 55 career games played for Endicott College (2016-18), Musil scored 22 goals and dished out 26 assists for 48 points. Musil currently ranks seventh all-time at Endicott in points and goals, fifth in game-winning goals (4), and ninth in assists.

Prior to Endicott, Musil played for the University of Maine, an NCAA Division I men's ice hockey program, from 2014-16 and was named a Maine Scholar-Athlete Rising Star during his time with the Black Bears. Musil also played for Team Great Britain's U20's at the 2012 and 2013 World Junior Division 1A and Division 1B Championships in Germany and Ukraine before joining the UMaine program.

"Jack is a big body, smooth skater, good skills and has a strong hockey IQ," said Braehead Clan head coach Pete Russell.  "He's very patient on the puck and brings others into the game. Jack has bags of talent and a strong work ethic. 

Russell continued.

"During the past eight years, Jack has developed on and off the ice in North America and after finishing his NCAA career, he's now ready to move into starting his professional career," said Russell. "He can beat you in so many ways with a variety of creative moves at different speeds. He is a very clever player. I have been monitoring Jack's situation for a while after having him on the Great Britain U20's National Team a few years back and he made a really positive impression on me."

Musil becomes the second Endicott men's ice hockey student-athlete to sign a professional hockey contract joining Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.) on the list. Earlier this year (3/5/18), Day signed an amateur tryout contract (ATO) with the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League (AHL). Day went on to play in 10 games for the Condors and score two goals.

Additionally, Musil is now the eighth player to sign for the Clan for the 2018-19 season, following the signings of Zack Fitzgerald, Scott Pitt, Michal Gutwald, Gerard Hanson, Craig Peacock, Matt Haywood and Zach Sullivan.

The Elite Ice Hockey League is a professional league in the United Kingdom. Formed in 2003, it is the highest level of ice hockey competition in the UK.

Eleven teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland currently compete in the Elite League, which is split into three Conferences.

Professional ice hockey has been played in the UK since the 1930s and the Great Britain team won the Olympic gold medal in 1936.

Ice hockey is now the number-one attended indoor professional sport in the UK and overall it is the third largest winter spectator sport in the UK after football and rugby union.

The Braehead Clan are Glasgow's only professional ice hockey club. We compete in the EIHLthe UK's premier ice hockey league, which consists of ten teams representing all four Home Nations. The nine other clubs are the Belfast Giants, Cardiff Devils, Coventry Blaze, Dundee Stars, Edinburgh Capitals, Hull Stingrays, Fife Flyers, Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers.

The Clan play out of the 4,000 seater Braehead Arena, a superb entertainment venue is a stunning location on the banks of the River Clyde. The club became the inaugural Gardiner Conference Champions is season 2012/13. Since our formation we have gone from strength to strength ending each season with record home attendances, silverware and a legion of Purple Army fans!

The Clan's season runs from September until April. There are 26 home games and 26 away games during the regular season which runs until the end of March. The Clan also compete in the Challenge Cup and compete for the Gardiner conference.

We are highly involved with the local community, helping promote the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle. Ice Hockey unites people from all walks of life. "Seeing is believing", as they say, and you only have to attend a game to see and believe the atmosphere that we have created.

We have worked hard in our first three seasons with our fans and sponsors, and we know we have a very bright future ahead on and off the ice.
