CCC CHAMPIONSHIP: No. 2 Endicott Hosts No. 6 Wentworth On Saturday For League Crown (3 PM)

BEVERLY, Mass. – The second-seeded Endicott men's ice hockey team (21-5) is set to host sixth-seeded Wentworth (9-15-3) in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship game on Saturday at 3 PM. Here's a preview of this weekend's CCC title matchup between No. 12 nationally ranked Endicott and Wentworth.

Fans attending Saturday's matchup should be advised that with an anticipated capacity crowd for this weekend's game that doors will be closed and entrance will be refused when Raymond J. Bourque Arena reaches capacity. Doors to the venue will be open at 2 PM. Also, bags and backpacks will not be permitted. Please plan accordingly.

FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

• Saturday's game will mark the first time in CCC men's ice hockey history that a No. 2 seed and a No. 6 seed will compete the league crown. Previous matchups have included 1/5 seed (2016-17), 3/5 seed (2017-18), and 1/3 seed (2018-19). The Leopards defeated No. 3 Curry and No. 1 University of New England by identical 2-1 scores to advance to the CCC Championship, while Endicott topped No. 5 Nichols, 3-2, in overtime in the semifinals.
• In Wentworth's 11 previous trips to the conference championship game, the Leopards are 6-5, having won the former ECAC Northeast in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2012, and 2013. The Black & Gold most recently made a championship game appearance in 2014 and also appeared in 2001, 2007, 2009, and 2011. Meanwhile, this will be the first-ever appearance in the CCC Championship game for Wentworth in program history.
• Current Endicott head coach R.J. Tolan guided Wentworth through the majority of the Leopards' playoff runs previously mentioned (2006-14).
• The Gulls hold an 11-2-0 advantage over Wentworth in the all-time series. Endicott enters Saturday's game on a four-game winning streak versus the Leopards, which includes a 3-0-0 mark against them this season. Meanwhile, during the four-game winning streak, the Gulls have outscored Wentworth 25-9.
• Wentworth has never beaten Endicott at Raymond J. Bourque Arena (7-0-0).

WHAT'S NEXT

The winner of Saturday's game will be crowned the CCC Champion and earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
