Kurapov Named AHCA Division II/III Player Of The Year Finalist
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott men’s ice hockey junior forward Andrew Kurapov (Corvallis, Ore.) has been named a finalist for the 2023 Sid Watson Award, given annually to the best NCAA Division II/III men’s ice hockey student-athlete in the country.
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott men's ice hockey junior forward Andrew Kurapov (Corvallis, Ore.) has been named a finalist for the 2023 Sid Watson Award, given annually to the best NCAA Division II/III men's ice hockey student-athlete in the country.
Sponsored by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA), the Sid Watson Award honors the memory of former Bowdoin College head coach and athletic director Sid Watson. A three-time AHCA Coach of the Year, Watson served Bowdoin for more than 30 years, winning 326 games in 24 seasons as head coach.
The recipient of this year's Sid Watson Award will be announced at the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey National Championship Banquet, hosted by Endicott College, on Thursday, March 23.
Kurapov is the third student-athlete in program history to earn the honor joining defenseman Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.) and goalie Conor O'Brien '22 (Pinellas Park, Fla.) on the list
In 26 games played this season, Kurapov has compiled 31 points via 13 goals (3 GWG) and 18 assists.
He currently sports a +21 plus/minus rating and currently ranks No. 39 among all Division III skaters in points per game (1.20), No. 53 in assists per game (0.68), No. 24 in game-winning goals, and No. 55 in goals per game (0.52).
Today's announcement also marks Kurapov's second major award this season.
On March 8, Kurapov was named the Co-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Year.
He is the third student-athlete in program history to claim CCC Player of the Year honors, once again joining Day and O'Brien on another exclusive list.
Additionally, Kurapov is the first student-athlete in CCC men's ice hockey history to earn Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year accolades during their career.
