BIDDEFORD, Maine. — The No. 7 Endicott men's ice hockey team fell to No. 8 University of New England (UNE), 2-1, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Saturday night at the Harold Alfond Forum
The game remained scoreless for much of the first and second periods until the host Nor'easters found the back with 1:45 remaining before the second intermission.
UNE then doubled up their lead a little over a minute into the third period while on the power-play. Noah Gibbs (Saint-Basile, New Brunswick, Canada) made it a 2-1 game with 3:45 to play for his seventh goal of the season.
The Gulls continued to apply the pressure but were unable to tie the game up despite outshooting the Nor'easters, 9-1, following Gibbs' tally.
In goal, Peter Sterling (Manassas, Va.) made 19 saves in the setback (12-2-0).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott is now 12-10-5 all-time versus UNE (snaps five-game winning streak).
- First away loss of the season for the Gulls.
- Gibbs became the first student-athlete to score against the UNE penalty killing unit all season.
