No. 7 Men's Ice Hockey Turns Away Roger Williams On Senior Day, 5-2
BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 7 Endicott men's ice hockey team handled Roger Williams on Senior Day, 5-2, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Saturday afternoon at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
Prior to the matchup, Matthew Boczar (Sewell, N.J.), Michael Casey (Media, Pa.), Mark D'Agostino (Branford, Conn.), Kyle Furey (Marblehead, Mass.), Ty Gaulin (Stratham, N.H.), John Goldowski (Buffalo, N.Y.), Charlie Killian (Mendota Heights, Minn.), Collin Kleiser (Churchville, Pa.), and Krystian Jaks (Bellinzona, Switzerland) were all honored on the ice in a pre-game ceremony for their contributions to the men's ice hockey program and the College.
Kleiser got the Gulls on the board first, just over six minutes into the contest, as he took the puck from his own defensive zone and weaved around the Hawks' defense into the offensive zone, allowing him to beat the goalie top shelf.
He then doubled the advantage for Endicott after he helped keep the puck in the zone and got to the front of the goal as his backhanded shot found the back of the net.
The Hawks would then cut the lead to one over a minute later while on the power-play, but an Anthony Cafarelli (Middleton, Mass.) tally with just 22 seconds remaining gave the Blue and Green a 3-1 advantage heading to the locker rooms.
Roger Williams again would cut the lead to one with under five minutes remaining in the second period, and again the Gulls responded, this time Therien Thiesing (Lynchburg, Tenn.) found the back of the net following a shot from the point.
Still leading 4-2 in the third period, Furey put the game to rest with an empty net goal line to goal line shot and secured Endicott's 5-2 home win.
In goal, Peter Sterling (Manassas, Va.) made 11 saves, improving his record to 13-2-1 on the season.
