SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Endicott men's lacrosse team shutout Western New England on Wednesday night over the final 32:01 of the contest to secure an 11-6 victory and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Conference of New England (CNE) Tournament.
Tommy Tyksinski (Guilderland, N.Y.) led the way for Endicott with four goals and an assist for five points.
Donovan Devellis (Norfolk, Mass.) and Joseph Tumolo (Mahopac, N.Y.) both scored twice, while Nick Graap (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), Chris Hughes (North Kingstown, R.I.), and Manny Marshall (Chelmsford, Mass.) rounded out the scorers with solo tallies.
In goal, Gio Panicola (Long Beach, N.Y.) finished with 12 saves as his record improves to 13-3 this season.
In the first quarter, the Gulls scored three goals in the span of 2:20 while Panicola made four saves to help keep the Golden Bears off the scoreboard to take that advantage to the second quarter.
Over the course of the next 15 minutes, both teams went on scoring runs as Western New England would tie the game at six with 2:01 left before halftime. Another Panicola save with under a minute left allowed Endicott to retain possession and work the ball to Brody MacDonald (Hanson, Mass.) who found Graap and he scored his 63rd goal of the season with one second remaining, giving the Gulls a 7-6 lead at the break.
The second half saw the Blue and Green give up just 16 shots to the Golden Bears and didn't allow a goal while Tumolo (x2), Tyksinski, and Devellis all scored to secure the 11-6 road victory.
