Bio

Shawn Gerard enters his second year as an assistant coach with the men's rugby program in 2025-26.

A native of Long Island, New York, Gerard began his rugby career in high school before going on to play for numerous men’s clubs across the country, ranging from New York to Denver, Colorado.

Gerard co-founded the SUNY Oneonta men’s rugby team in 2016. He served as a pivotal leader for the program, acting as team captain and player-coach for four years.

Gerard holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from SUNY Oneonta and a Master’s in Risk Management from the University of Denver.

He is also a World Rugby Level 1 certified coach.
