Krysztoforski's Header-Goal Leads Men's Soccer Past Thomas (Maine), 1-0
BEVERLY, Mass. — A 45th minute set-piece header goal from Konrad Krysztoforski (Bydgoszcz, Poland) led the Endicott men's soccer team past Thomas (Maine), 1-0, in Sunday's matinee at Hempstead Stadium.
Krysztoforski lined up at the back post while Aidan Sheehan (Arlington, Mass.) connected with him on his late first half corner kick. Krysztoforski was the first to the ball, and his header careened off of a Thomas defender and into the net, giving the Gulls a 1-0 lead with under a minute to play in the first half.
A physical second half yielded no further scoring from either side.
The whistle was blown on several occasions late in the match, and in the final three minutes, a Terriers midfielder was sent off via a red card amidst the ensuing chaos.
Despite a few last second chances for the Terriers offense, the Gulls' backline thwarted any and all opportunities, solidifying the second straight shutout win for the Blue and Green on the weekend.
Brady O'Toole (Concord, Mass.) improved to 2-0 on the young season after his four-save shutout effort.
