BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's soccer team defeated Curry College, 4-0, on Wednesday evening in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Hempstead Stadium.
Aidan Sheehan (Arlington, Mass.) and Conor Rooney (Monroe, Conn.) potted one goal and dished out one assist each to secure a pivotal league win.
Sheehan opened up the scoring at 46:47 when he one-timed a quick touch pass near the left post from Rooney for his third goal of the season. Sheehan generated the scoring chance by dribbling through three defenders before Rooney played him free for the one-timer.
Rooney followed with his own strike exactly 11 minutes later, as the senior midfielder rifled home a bounding ball at the right post for his 13th career tally.
The Gulls created off the counterattack, winning a second-ball near the midline before a pair of passes up the right flank and a dangerous cross into the box turned fortuitous for Rooney.
Graham Butterworth (Topsfield, Mass.) added his first career goal to the ledger at 66:02 via a clinical cross from Sheehan, while Ethan Nunes (Chattanooga, Tenn.) produced a highlight reel tally at 81:23 to put the finishing touches on the victory.
Nunes' marker was nothing short of SportsCenter worthy, as the midfielder volleyed a bouncing ball off the turf between two defenders and promptly blasted a shot from the right post into the net.
In goal, Ethan Harrison (Sandy Springs, Ga.) made two saves to improve his record to 2-2-1 this season.
