Gulls get first program victory over Salve; win 5-4

Beverly, Mass. - The Endicott men's tennis team rebounded from two doubles losses to win 4-of-6 singles matches against Salve Regina in TCCC play. The Gulls went on to win 5-4 as a team, improving their 2011 record to 8-5 (6-2 TCCC).
The win was Endicott's first over Salve Regina in program history.
The \#1 and \#2 doubles teams fell to their Seahawks opponents, but the combination of senior Porter Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) and freshman Evan Ross (Worcester, Mass.) claimed a shutout 8-0 win at the \#3 doubles spot to stay in the match.
In singles play, the Gulls showed their depth by winning the \#2, \#4, \#5 and \#6 matches. Williams continued his strong day, winning 7-5, 6-2 at the \#2 spot. Freshman Zach Arpey (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) improved to 13-0 on the season by taking \#3 singles 6-2, 6-1. Ross and sophomore Jake Cohen (Barrington, R.I.) wrapped up Endicott's comeback with straight set victories of their own in \#5 and \#6 singles.
The Blue and Green travel to TCCC rival Curry on Tuesday, April 12th for a 3:30 pm match with the Colonels. Endicott lost 5-4 to Curry in their only meeting of the 2010 season.
