#15 Endicott Sweeps Elms 3-0

CHICOPEE, MA, March 23, 2004 - Elms College sophomore setter Darlington Abanulo (Pittsfield, MA) recorded 13 assists and six digs, but No. 15 Endicott College earned a 3-0 (30-22, 30-19, 30-16) win over the Blazers in Tuesday night's North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division men's volleyball match at the Maguire Center.
Endicott, the nation's 15th-ranked team in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Coaches Poll, snapped a four-match losing streak to improve to 17-12 overall, 14-2 NECVA New England Division.
The Gulls received a match-high 18 assists from senior Craig Steszewski and freshman outside hitter George Chapell added five kills and a match-high nine digs. Stepping away from his normal role as libero, Steszewski also tallied six aces as he finished out the scoring of game two and then led the Gulls on a 10-0 run to start game three. Other outstanding play came from freshman Eddie Marchand with 11 kills and one block and sophomore Lloyd Douglass with a team-leading four blocks.
Sophomore outside hitter Andrew Connolly (Westbrook, ME) recorded a team-high 10 digs, and sophomore middle blocker Patrick Boyajian (Tolland, CT) added six kills for the Blazers in the loss.
Endicott continues conference play as they travel to Simmons College on Thursday March 25 for an 8:00 PM match against Emmanuel College.
