Gulls Rally Past New Haven, 3-2

New Haven, CT - Endicott improved to 4-0 for the first time in the program's history with a 3-2 victory at the University of New Haven tonight. The Gulls were forced to rally twice, first from an 0-2 game deficit and then from a 3-8 score at the start of the fifth game, to extend their win streak to four matches. The game scores were 26-30, 23-30, 30-26, 33-31, 16-14. Tonight's victory marks the first time the Gulls have defeated the Chargers and their second straight win over a Division 1 or 2 opponent.
The Gulls were led at the net by Eddie Marchand's 19 kills and Jeremy Fontaine's 17. Jeremy Hamel did a terrific job running the offense picking up 55 assists while also contributing 15 digs. Brandon Ecker dug up 18 balls and Russ Friedland led EC's blocking with 6 assist blocks.
Senior Jonathan Rios led New Haven with 21 kills. Freshman Chris Lennon had 19 kills, and classmate Drew Kirkeby had 12 kills and eight blocks for the Chargers.
The Gulls, ranked \#10 on this weeks AVCA Coaches Poll, will return to action in their home opener this Saturday when they will host Division II Queens College in a 6 PM match. UNH will travel to Newbury for a trimatch with Elms on Saturday.
