Gulls fly past Mountaineers, 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott College men's volleyball team got back in the win column with a 3-0 sweep over visiting Southern Vermont College in NECVA action on Tuesday night in Beverly, Mass. The Gulls improve to 6-5 (5-0 NECVA) while the Mountaineers drop to 0-4 (0-4 NECVA). B.J. Worth (Londonderry, N.H.) led the Gulls with six kills while freshman Jeremy Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) dished out 16 assists.
The Gulls came out of the gates quickly as they quickly went on a 7-0 run, prompting a Southern Vermont timeout. Endicott was then able to extend its lead to 23-1 before the Mountaineers were forced to take another timeout to stop the Endicott run. The Gulls were able to take the first game 30-2 and take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The second and third games were more of the same as the Gulls built early leads to put the Mountaineers away. The Gulls took a 15-3 lead in the second game while building a 11-4 lead in the third to close out the three-game sweep. Endicott won the final two games 30-4 and followed by a 30-8 victory over the visitors from Bennington, Vermont.
Six Gulls were able to register four or more kills in the victory. Schlosser, James Silva (Monroe, Conn.), Andrew Slocum (Burnt Hills, N.Y.), and Joshua Bruno (Andover, Mass.) each had four kills while Jeremy Siden (Natick, Mass.) had five kills and B.J. Worth had six. Schlosser had 16 assists while senior Matt Carroll (West Hartford, Conn.) chipped in with 12 assists. David Olson (Chelmsford, Mass.) had six digs to lead the Gulls.
Jullian Amaral (New Bedford, Mass.) led the Mountaineers with three kills and nine digs.
The Blue and Green return to action on Friday as they go on the road to take on Daniel Webster in another NECVA matchup scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Southern Vermont continues the search for its first win when they host Newbury College on February 14th at 11:00 a.m.
